Jacqueline Pfeffer Merrill, Ph.D.

The Council of Independent Colleges (DC)

Dr. Jacqueline Pfeffer Merrill is director of the Campus Free Expression Project at the Council of Independent Colleges. She advises senior college leaders on approaches to fostering a campus culture that is diverse, inclusive, and open to robust intellectual exchange. Her articles and essays have appeared in Chronicle of Higher EducationInside Higher Ed, and Perspectives on Political Science. She serves on the Virginia 250 Commission’s Education Steering Committee and is vice president of the Association for Core Texts and Courses. She holds a B.A. (First Class Honours) from the University of Calgary and an M.A. and Ph.D. from Duke University.
